Changes for admitted freshmen due to the COVID-19 pandemic

In recognition of the the ongoing challenges due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, IUPUI has made the following adjustments to our standard processes:

Enrollment deposits

The deadline to commit to IUPUI has been extended from May 1 to June 1. Additionally, a new waiver for the $100 enrollment deposit has been added for students who are looking to commit, but temporarily do not have the resources. When completing the enrollment deposit waiver form, select "I am experiencing temporary economic hardship due to the novel coronavirus". This waiver will be approved without any further documentation.

Student orientation

Orientation for newly admitted freshmen will take place in a virtual environment this summer. You will need to submit your enrollment deposit (or waiver) to be eligible to reserve your virtual orientation. You can sign up 24 to 48 hours after your deposit/waiver is received. More details on this change will be forthcoming.

You will also meet virtually with an academic advisor during orientation to help you plan your course schedule.

Housing applicants

Though the March 15 priority consideration date has passed, applications for on-campus housing are still being accepted. We recommend that you apply as soon as possible, knowing that priority will be given to students who have applied by March 15.

The first round of contracts for students who have applied to live in on-campus housing have been delayed until Thursday, April 2. If you have applied to live on campus, you should watch your campus email for this contract (learn how to access your campus email here). Once your contract is received, you will have until the following Monday night to accept it, along with a $400 pre-payment. Please contact reslife@iupui.edu with any additional questions.

Review your offer of admissions

If you’re admitted to IUPUI, you’ll receive a letter of admission that includes important information about your:

  • University ID number: You’ll use this number to create your computing account and throughout your time at IUPUI.
  • School/division: Your school is the academc unit to which you have been admitted. Your school will provide your academic advising.
  • Major: Your major is your proposed area of study. Acceptance into a major is selective. If your school is University College, you will complete prerequisite courses in your first two semesters to gain admission into your intended major.
  • Residency/tuition: Your residency determines whether you will pay in-state or out-of-state tuition.
  • Starting term: Your admission is valid only for the term indicated. To start in a different term, use our application update form to request a change of term.

If there are any errors in your letter of admission, call us at 317-274-4591 to let us know.
