Congratulations! You’ve received an offer of admission from IUPUI, and you’re ready to accept. Read through the checklist on this page to find out what you need to do to confirm your enrollment and prepare for your first semester at IUPUI.
But first show us your Jaguar pride by taking a selfie with your acceptance letter and tagging it with #admitted2iupui on Twitter or Instagram. We’ll hook you up with some congratulatory Jag swag.
Next steps for first-year students
If you’re admitted to IUPUI, you’ll receive a letter of admission that includes important information about your:
University ID number: You’ll use this number to create your computing account and throughout your time at IUPUI.
School/division: Your school is the academc unit to which you have been admitted. Your school will provide your academic advising.
Major: Your major is your proposed area of study. Acceptance into a major is selective. If your school is University College, you will complete prerequisite courses in your first two semesters to gain admission into your intended major.
Residency/tuition: Your residency determines whether you will pay in-state or out-of-state tuition.
Starting term: Your admission is valid only for the term indicated. To start in a different term, use our application update form to request a change of term.
If there are any errors in your letter of admission, call us at 317-274-4591 to let us know.
If you haven’t created your IUPUI computing account yet, you’ll need your university ID number, found in your letter of admission, to set up your account. Go to One.IU, search for “create my first IU account,” and select that task, then create your username and passphrase, passphrase reset questions, and email address. Be sure that the email address you create is for IUPUI.
If you’ve already created your IUPUI computing account (or if you’ve created a computing account for another IU campus), you just need to create your IUPUI email address. Sign in to One.IU with your username and passphrase and search for “email management.” Select that task and create your IUPUI email address. Be sure to check your IUPUI email account regularly—it’s the way we’ll contact you with important information.
After you’ve created your computing account, you can use One.IU to update your personal information, view your financial aid package, and see your transfer and AP credits or DANTES/DSST, CLEP, and IB results.
After you’ve signed in, set your role to “Student” using the All Roles dropdown menu in the upper right under the searchbox or by selecting Roles in the menu on your mobile device.
Select the “Student Center” default icon. If the icon doesn’t appear in your default view, type “Student Center” in the search bar.
If you are a freshman who will begin attending IUPUI in the fall, you must pay a nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $100 to accept your offer of admission and secure your place in our freshman class. Your deposit will be applied to your first tuition bill.
You can pay your deposit online or by sending a check via U.S. mail. If you were admitted by April 1, pay your deposit by May 1. If you were admitted after April 1, pay your deposit within three weeks of admission.
You do not have to pay an enrollment deposit if you meet any of the criteria listed here. However, you must request a deposit waiver to reserve your spot at IUPUI.
You are eligible to request a deposit waiver if:
You are an Indiana 21st Century Scholar.
You are an IUPUI Pledge Grant recipient.
You are the child of a disabled veteran receiving 100 percent tuition assistance.
You are receiving any of these scholarships or grants:

You are not required to live on campus as a freshman, but there are several on-campus housing options available to first-year students. Because of the volume of housing applications we receive, we encourage you to apply early for housing—you can apply before your submit your enrollment deposit. On-campus housing is guaranteed if you submit your housing application by March 15.
Meal plans are available to all IUPUI students, regardless of whether they live on or off campus. If you live in Ball Residence Hall, North Hall, or University Tower, you’re required to have a meal plan.
If you’re applying for need-based financial aid, be sure to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as October 1 and no later than March 10. Remember to list IUPUI’s school code, 001813, on your application to ensure that your results are sent to IUPUI.
About orientation
As an incoming student, you are required to attend an on-campus orientation session that will prepare you to be successful at IUPUI. During your orientation, you’ll meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, and learn about the resources available to you at IUPUI.
Orientations are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible.
Making an orientation reservation
You must pay your enrollment deposit in order to reserve a spot at orientation. If you haven’t paid your enrollment deposit, the Orientation Reservation System will not allow you to make a reservation. (It can take up to seven days for your deposit to post to the Orientation Reservation System. If you have already paid your deposit but can’t make a reservation, it’s likely because your deposit hasn’t posted yet—check back again later.)
Before you make a reservation for orientation, you must create your IUPUI computing account. (See step #2 on this checklist for instructions on creating your computing account.) After you’ve done this, use the username and passphrase for your computing account to log in to the Orientation Reservation System. Follow the instructions to choose your reservation date.
If you have problems logging in to the Orientation Reservation System, call 317-274-4240 or email welcome@iupui.edu.
After you’ve made your reservation, check your IUPUI email account for a confirmation email from Orientation Services. This email has important information about your orientation.
Orientations are major specific. To change your major before orientation, log in to the Orientation Reservation System and select the Orientation Questionnaire tab. Changing your major may change the date of your orientation.
Taking placement tests
Prior to your orientation, you will be required to complete placement tests that may include the English Guided Self-Placement questionnaire and tests in mathematics, chemistry, and/or a foreign language. The results of these tests will help you and your advisor select appropriate classes for your first semester at IUPUI. Failure to complete your placement tests will delay your registration for classes during orientation.
Indiana state law requires IUPUI to inform all students of the risks of meningococcal disease, commonly known as meningitis, and the benefits of vaccination. While you are not required to be vaccinated against meningitis, you must complete the Immunization Compliance Form.
Review your confirmation email and reminder email to see your orientation agenda and learn what to bring.
If you were admitted during your senior year, remember that you are required to graduate from high school to attend IUPUI. You are expected to complete all courses listed on your application for admission and to earn a grade of C or better in each class.
If these conditions are not met, it is your responsibility to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions before you begin at IUPUI. Failure to do so could result in a revocation of your acceptance.
If you’re enrolled in college courses (including dual-enrollment courses you have completed or will complete) at the time of admission, you must arrange for a final transcript to be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. You are expected to complete all courses listed on your application for admission, leave your former college with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), and be eligible to return to the college in good standing.
If these conditions are not met, it is your responsibility to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions before you begin at IUPUI. Failure to do so could result in a revocation of your acceptance.

As a newly admitted transfer student, you’ll participate in a three-part Transition Orientation Experience that will help you make a smooth transition to IUPUI.
Part 1: Transfer Tuesday Webinar
During the Transfer Tuesday Webinar, you’ll prepare for your first academic advising appointment. You must complete the webinar before you attend your Transition Orientation Program.
Part 2: Transition Orientation Program
After you’ve completed the Transfer Tuesday Webinar, you’ll attend a daylong Transition Orientation Program on the IUPUI campus. Designed to meet the unique needs of transfer students, the Transition Orientation Program includes a campus resource fair, a presentation from your academic unit, and sessions on topics such as information technology resources and health and wellness support.
Part 3: Orientation Advising Appointment
After you’ve attended your Transfer Tuesday Webinar and Transition Orientation Program, you’ll meet your academic advisor during a one-on-one advising appointment to discuss your transfer credits and register for your first semester of classes.
Making an orientation reservation
We recommend that you make your orientation reservation as early as possible—you won’t be able to register for classes until you’ve completed all three parts of your Transition Orientation Experience
Next steps for returning students (those who have previously attended IUPUI)
