About placement testing
Placement tests gauge your current knowledge in key academic areas and ensure you start off in the right classes. Use the information below to take one of the available tests. If you aren't sure which tests are required for you, check out these details. Contact Orientation Services if you still have questions.
If you have a physical or learning disability, please contact IU Indianapolis Accessible Educational Services at 317-274-3241 to make arrangements for your placement test.
Testing fees
The IU Indianapolis Math Placement Test (ALEKS®) and the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) test each have a $52 testing fee. This fee will be charged to a student's bursar account upon their initial login to take the test and will cover any further attempts within the academic year. The fee is nonrefundable.
