Roll up your sleeves

At IUPUI, your academic experience goes far beyond the walls of the classroom. Through the campuswide RISE initiative, you’ll apply your classroom learning to real-world settings by participating in four types of experiences:

  • Research opportunities: conducting research or creative work under faculty mentorship
  • International experiences: travel and learning outside the United States
  • Service-learning experiences: participation in an organized service activity that meets community needs
  • Experiential learning: community-based professional practice activities such as internships

After you have completed at least two of the four RISE experiences, your status as a RISE Scholar is noted on your IUPUI transcript—something that will give you a leg up with future employers.
