Indiana College Core transfer pathways

Complete 30 credits at Ivy Tech toward the Indiana College Core and transfer to IU Indianapolis as a sophomore with every general education credit guaranteed to count.

What is the Indiana College Core (ICC)?

The Indiana College Core is a 30-credit block of general education coursework offered at Ivy Tech Community College. It's designed for students who plan to spend one year at Ivy Tech before transferring to a four-year university.

Completing the ICC means your general education credits are guaranteed to transfer to any state-supported institution in Indiana—including IU Indianapolis. You'll arrive as a sophomore, with your first year of college credit already behind you.

The ICC is available at 29 Ivy Tech locations across Indiana and fully online. Full-time students typically complete it in two semesters.

Connect with the IU Indianapolis transfer team to receive a list of Ivy Tech courses that will specifically transfer into your intended degree at IU Indianapolis.

A note about admission

The Indiana College Core guarantees your credits will transfer, but it does not guarantee admission to IU Indianapolis. You'll still need to apply and be admitted to the university and to your intended program.

If you're looking for a pathway that includes guaranteed admission, the Transfer as a Junior (TSAP) and 2+2 programs may be a better fit. Several of those programs come with a Guaranteed Admissions Agreement for eligible students.
